Ford introduced its refreshed F-150 pickup truck for the 2013 model year earlier this month but withheld information about its range-topping variant until Tuesday.

The 2013 Limited recalibrates the top end for the truck line, displacing the Harley Davidson edition as the most expensive F-150 available from the factory. Though Mike Levine, a Ford Trucks spokesman, declined to disclose pricing, the Limited should exceed $50,000, based on the 2012 Harley-Davidson truck’s $50,025 list price, including delivery charge.

It may seem that Ford is oversaturating the high end of its best-selling truck line with so many models commanding premium, if not always Platinum, cash outlays from their buyers. But Mr. Levine said in a telephone interview that the brand saw no reason to stop testing the mark

The most popular vehicle among millionaires? The F-150. This vehicle is catering to a select group. It needs a bigger engine if you're going to use it to haul anything.

Or how about paying $33K (after taxpayer credit) for a Volt (?Dolt) just to give yourself a warm green fuzzy feeling that you're saving the planet. ;-)

What I find funny is when Ford introduced the "Texas Edition F-150", the price was several thousand higher. However, the only difference was the "Texas Edition" badge. If you're willing to pay the $2,000 for a piece of metal, then you deserve to be parted with your money.

That's what I use to pay for a house.

Good trucks but not that good.

$50K is way too much for an F150. Ford does make nice trucks though. Chevy and GM make poor quality trucks. My '07 Silverado 2500,of which I bought new, has had so many issues: leaking transmission cooling lines that had to be replaced; glow plug replacements (2X); blower fan resistor module needed to be replaced and the ignition lock assy needed to be replaced. All of those listed items are high failure items on GM vehicles. GM builds crap!!! I will never buy a GM product again.

I do love my F-150 FX, but I do agree that the price really doesn't need to be so high for these trucks. But people will pay it, so that's where they are.

Ford has great trucks - not sure I would want a Limited edition for the price though.

Its interesting that Ford would limit the engine choice on the most expensive pickup to the EcoBoost V-6. If the targeted buyer can afford to spend nearly $60,000 on a pickup truck, they surely can afford the extra gas that the V-8 or even the Triton V-10 would consume! What about a diesel engine option? And how is the Limited supposed pull all of those expensive toys the article talks about with just a V-6? Maybe Ford should rethink their engine options?
