Anyone drives an Audi TT Roadster? If so how do you like the handling and cockpit comfort of this vehicle?

I have an '02 A4 and I have been running 89 octane (gasahol - 10% ethanol). It does seem to bog down from a start. Anyone else with a 1.8T experience this? I tried 91 octane and it didn't really seem to make any difference. The manual says premium is recommended, but 87 is okay and you will have decreased performance. I personally can not tell the difference.
On another note, has anyone put in a K&N air filter? If yes, what do you think?

OK, I do love my Allroad, but I have been tracking my gas purchases and milage to see what I'm getting....17.8! Could this thing be calculating correctly. Anybody else use to track for an Audi...what kinda of milage are you getting?

It's all about driving style. If you don't throttle or boost up, there is less charge (air+fuel) to be comprsssed and detonate. Hi compression engines and/or turbos are more prone to this, but again, less mix to compress means less relative compression. If all there was to consider was compression ratio, engines would detonate all the time, even at idle. I have an A4 2.8q, 190hp programme, but I changed the soft-code to the A6 200hp programme, they are both on-board and anyone with this engine and access to a VAG-com or VAG 1551 OBD (addressable) interface can do it. Does else anyone visit bobistheoilguy.com? If you're into gas, why not oil too?

Hey enj,
If you run regular gas in your Audi, be aware besides the crappy performance and decrease in fuel economy that you are also destroying your engine. Another thing to watch out for is detonation. What that means is that the fuel will explode before it is supposed to and it can total your engine.
Use Super. The difference is not that much maybe as much as $4 at the pump. It is a lot cheaper than a new motor. If you have a turbocharger then it is even that much more critical.

It needs premium because of the turbo or turbos

Other than your decreased performance, it will stall. I have a friend who does it all the time, just to save money, but his car stalls frequently. I'm not sure of the other technical/mechanical issues, but it's just not good. In the long run, you're saving money avoiding engine repairs.

I have a 2001 S4 and it's great, but buying premium gas for it is getting pricey. So I've been driving the old '88 Integra or riding my bike more these days...

It needs premium because it's a turbo car. I have the APR chip with the 93 octane program. The boost with it is right about 18 pounds, but spikes to 21 when it's cold outside.

Less oil in the fuel (that's why Shell gas sucks!) it runs much cleaner and you get more power, I've noticed. I usually put Sunoco
