If the price of gasoline doubles, would you be inclined to purchase a more fuel efficient vehicle, or trade in for one?

since this thread started untill about amonth or so ago, fuel has doubled so i guess that would be a big fat nope. just wouldnt pay for the little driving that i do that doesnt require the pickup. (guess the bike fills that gap seasonally but thats just a perk and doesnt have anything to do with why i have it).

unsure, if it doubles, I most likely will quit current job and uses public transit instead.

No! I am waiting for the technology on the Chevy Volt to become available before I would even consider it... The biggest factor would be having the cash to pay for it. Car companies make more on the financing than on the car mark ups...

Yes, if it doubles, i.e. reaches $7-8/gal for premium. Much below that, it would not pay.
