(One of the GM cars (turbocharged) was actually exceeding its rating by about 5 mpg highway until there was a malfunction and it suddenly dropped to about 50% on a trip. An O-2 sensor was replaced which got it back up to within 1-2 mpg under the rating and has been there since.
